In America The early performances of Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the prodigy child category. But for a person with Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and family, those were not innate traits. Maureen was welcomed into this cherished refuge within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was a contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and also owned part of the renowned Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as a kid and was very good at them. Her talent for performing perfectly complemented her passion for athletics. This was apparent when she was awarded every Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could offer. In the age of 14, she had been admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
